The Research Group for Environmental Monitoring of Aquaculture has been active in the field for ten years now. Currently, it consists of 10 experts focusing on different aspects of environmental monitoring of marine habitats: bathymetric surveys, habitat mapping, biological analyses (phytobenthos, macrozoobenthos, zooplankton, chlorophyll-α), geological analyses, chemical analyses (physicochemical measurements, nutrients) as well as the processing and statistical analyses of data.

Our laboratory has recently been accredited under ISO 17025:2017. We are also accredited for the following methods:

  • Quantitative sampling of marine benthic soft-bottom macrofauna (ISO 16665:2014, ISO 12878:2012),
  • Environmental monitoring of the impacts from marine finfish farms on soft bottoms (ISO 12878:2012)
  • Sample processing (sorting and identification) of marine benthic soft-bottom macrofauna (ISO 16665:2014)
  • Semi-quantitative determination of elements Cu, Zn, Pb, Mn, Fe in soils and sediments (ISO 13196:2013)
  • Conductivity (ΕΛΟΤ ΕΝ ΙSO 27888)
  • pH (ΕΛΟΤ 658)
  • Oxidation-Reduction Potential Redox (Standard Methods 2580 Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP))
